Nathalie Schlager

Nathalie Schlager, an award-winning writer, began her literary journey at the young age of five, when her mother submitted one of her short stories to a radio contest, winning first prize. This early success marked the beginning of a lifelong passion for storytelling. Natasha pursued formal studies in radio television, writing, and advertising at the Northeastern University, the Leland Powers School, and Salem State College in Massachusetts. Her diverse academic background laid the foundation for her multifaceted career as a writer, playwirght, and performer.

 

Her latest novel, Secrets, Lovers & Lies, is a powerful and provocative historical romance set against the backdrop of racial and religious tensions. It fallows the love story between Michael, a performer priest, and a Jewish girl, exploring their personal struggles as well as the broader conflicts between their respective religions. The novel masterfully weaves in elements of Southern bigotry, including the Ku Klux Klan, neo-Nazis, and the challenges of interfaith relationships. With its richly drawn characters, from a comic landlady to a southern nymphomaniac, Natasha’s work delivers a tapestry of humor, emotion, and incisive social commentary.

 

Natasha’s impressive portfolio extends beyond novels. She has a background in theater, having written and produced the play Manhattan Mama, which ran for six weeks at the Opus Playhouse in Florida. She has also graced the stage herself, playing leading roles in classic productions like Antigone and Fiddler on  the Roof.
